Outdoor Sketching morning

Come and join us for a bit of sketching in Chepstow.

There should be lots of opportunities to have a go at capturing activities about town.
How do we sketch people on the move?
What about Chepstow castle ?
Practical Details
Duration: Meet at the location for 10am. We will then wind up around 12 noon.
Bring your favourite sketching materials - eg. pen, pencils, charcoal, simple watercolours and a sketching pad.
Bring a Seat: We recommend bringing something to sit on, like a folding chair, or a plastic bag in case we sit on benches that might still be damp.
Social Time at the Café: After sketching, we'll head to a nearby café for tea, coffee, and friendly chat, sharing our work and ideas.
Car Sharing: We try to car share so please contact Shirley or Bob to make arrangements.
Location Information: Details will be posted in our WhatsApp community announcement board and emailed out to Sketching group members. Please contact Shirley or Bob if you are new to the Sketchers Group and would like to come along.

In this demonstration Jentien will be using collage and inks to create a vibrant backdrop for an acrylic streetscene. No paintbrush required!

David Johnson - Painting Workshop

David Johnson gave us a lively and engaging demonstration earlier in the year. He is returning to run a workshop where we can learn and practice some of his techniques.
Sketching Day November
Join us for our third sketching day on 02.11.2024!
From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, we'll gather outdoors for a relaxed sketching session, followed by tea and coffee at a nearby café. This free event is open to art club members only. Mark Warner
Mark is an experienced practising artist and tutor who works from his studio in North Shropshire, UK.
Mark will show examples of his sketchbooks/paintings and explain how his sketching influences the way he paints. Using acrylics, Mark will explain his application of colour, line and contrast within a landscape composition showing how he builds up layers within a painting.

Paul Weaver
Paul Weaver is one of the Club’s favourite tutors. He will give a demonstration ‘Alla Prima Flowers in Water Soluble Oils.’ Alla Prima is a direct method of oil painting, designed to capture a subject in one go.

59th Annual Summer Exhibition
The Thornbury Art Club is excited to announce our 59th Annual Summer Exhibition. Year on year our member’s creativity, skill and productivity grows and inspires. This is our chance to show off all the beautiful artwork they have been producing throughout the year. Our members range from people who have started creating this year to people who have been members since the start, 1965, amateurs and professionals.

This club night is free for everyone, you're welcome to come, non members, members and members families to join in our Christmas club night.

Club Event with Paul Weaver
Thornbury Art Club invites to our monthly Club Night. This month we invited Paul Weaver who will do a demo entitled Skies, Trees & Water: Landscape Essentials in Acrylics.
Paul will be exploring techniques to paint skies, trees and water in the landscape, as well as light and shade.
