Finn Campbell-Notman

Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2023

The aim of this talk / demo will outline how the success of whatever one makes is in direct proportion to how much of oneself is instilled into it. ‘Often painting, and especially landscape painting is considered to be solely an exterior view but in my practice the interior view is equally important ; how the depiction is also drawn from introspection.’

In a similar way talent is no prerequisite for creativity. Technique can be learnt and developed through practice and Finn will show us some of his own methods. There is no ‘correct’ way to draw or paint.

Mainly through his charcoal work, Finn will illustrate that a work of art’s ‘value’ can be derived from the values instilled in it and thus how art can be a form of direct action.

Finn will be visiting our art club on
